2013 NAIAS: Sebastian Vettel’s Red Bull 2012 F1 Championship Car in 3D

I don’t know if it’s Sebastian Vettel’s actual World Championship car or a show car but it uses engines made by Renault, Nissan’s luxury Infiniti is a major sponsor, and Nissan-Renault chief Carlos Ghosn was in attendance at the 2013 NAIAS, so it wasn’t much of a surprise to find the 2012 Red Bull F1 car on display.

I made a point of getting some shots of the exhaust ports just ahead of the suspension struts. 2011 was the year of the “blown diffuser”, using the expanding exhaust gases for aero advantage, but the FIA theoretically banned the devices, though by the middle of the 2012 season, team aerodynamicists again had the upper hand over the rule writers.
