Another one of the featured categories at the 2013 Eyes On Design car show was the Ford Thunderbird over the 50 years it was in and out of production. Three of those Tbirds, a red ’61 coupe, a ’71 two door landau, and one of my favorite ‘Birds, a 1967 four door landau complete with suicide doors and a landau bar on the vinyl roof. Making a suicide door Thunderbird wasn’t much of a stretch since the Thunderbird and Lincoln Continental were closely related. Bracketing the Tbirds in this video are a very cute looking 1961 Pontiac Tempest (that’s the one that John Z Delorean had made with a rear transaxle and his patented “rope drive” driveshaft), a bullet nosed 1951 Studebaker Commander coupe, and a MG TC.
