The John Deere GP, or General Purpose tractor was sold in the late 1920s and early 1930s. It’s speculated that the model name was chosen to compete with International’s “Farmall” brand. The setup for the steering gear is rather interesting, with a long, exposed steering shaft that terminates in a ring and pinion gearbox at the top of a long, vertical steering tube.
