This weekend, TTAC is running a piece I wrote on the Woods Dual Power, an early gasoline/electric hybrid automobile that had regenerative braking, stop-start, recharge on the fly, plus 48 mpg, in 1916! Below you can see its inline hybrid drivetrain with a gasoline engine, an electromagnetic clutch and an electric traction motor.
