Ironically, though Detroit Electric’s parent, the Anderson Carriage company, was one of the founding companies of the Murray Body corporation, with sales as slow as they were after gasoline became the dominant automotive fuel, Detroit Electric kept the same body in production for years and years. Other than robust wheels and tires, this 1931 Model 97 Opera Coupe doesn’t look substantially different from the 1916 model.
