The 1939 Pontiac with the see-through Plexiglas body sold at RM Auction’s Concours of America at St. John’s sale for $308,000. That’s probably less than the seller was hoping (I told him I thought maybe $400K) but it was within the pre auction estimate of $275K-$475K. Most of the cars that sold at the auction were within estimates, though more at the lower end than at the higher end. Some prices did exceed estimates – 1950s American cars were strong, but for the most part the cars were, as they say, well bought.
