Thunderhill Raceway in 3D! Well sort of. It’s not perfect… I believe the fish eye of the Gopro Hero cameras is causing some trouble, and I couldn’t mount the two cameras close enough together for the best 3D performance.
The YouTube poster is right, it’s not perfect. The cameras were mounted inside the car, on the dashboard, so there are reflections in the near field. You have to be careful with reflections when shooting in 3D and anything near field may cause parallax issues. Also, the cameras are bouncing around a bit, and not always exactly in sync. Still, the 3D is pretty good and it’s some of the first 3D video from an actual racetrack that I’ve seen, as opposed to sim and video game replays. Even in 2D/mono it’s a nice look at the Thunderhill race track.
