On the Friday afternoon and into early evening of the day before the official Dream Cruise, the cruising on Woodward that has been percolating and building in intensity all summer long starts coming to a fevered pitch. On Saturday, the day of the actual Dream Cruise, there are more cars, but there is also massive congestion and a million people. Friday evening offers many fine, fine rides, but in a slightly more relaxed setting and you can actually see the cars going at speed. Besides, back in the day, people only cruised Woodward after the sun went down. These approximately 70 photos were taken on first the southbound and then the northbound sides of Woodward a little bit north of Catalpa, which in Detroitspeak is 11 1/2 Mile Road. Part of the fun is trying to identify all the interesting cars up & down the road and in the background.
