On my visit to the ACD museum, I was fortunate to be escorted around the facility by Aaron Warkentin, the museum’s newly appointed curator. He described the magnificent Cord E-1 prototype V12 limousine as well as the museum’s Gallery of Special Interest Automobiles, where more modern cars are displayed, including the museum’s newly donated Sunbeam Tiger and its Mercedes Benz 300 SL gullwing. Also in that gallery is a spectacular L-29 Cord roadster in white with red trim, as well as a special exhibit on stainless steel cars. Of course there’s a Delorean, but of greater interest are the three Ford products that Allegheny Steel had rebodied in stainless including a ’36 Ford, a ’61 Lincoln Continental convertible and a 1958 Thunderbird.
