Toyota NS4 Concept Grille

Toyota NS 4 Concept: remind you of anyone?

Another auto show, another humdrum Toyota press conference in the Riverside Ballroom at Cobo Hall.  This year Jim Lentz, COO of Toyota Motor Sale U.S.A.  got to do the honors giving Bob Carter some well deserved time off.

The big news was the introduction of the NS 4 concept.  It’s a plug-in hybrid and bears a Toyota badge on its snout but Lentz said it would not be marketed as a Prius.  That might be because it’s too attractive and conventional looking to be a Prius, who knows.

What I couldn’t help but notice was the bit of homage Toyota pays to GM’s fallen Pontiac brand in the center grille treatment.
