After years of disappointing Honda true believers by first discontinuing the NSX in 2005, and then teasing rumors that the midengine supercar would be replaced by a front engined grand tourer, Acura pleased the faithful by announcing that the NSX would return with its V6 engine located behind the driver. Since “sustainability” is going to one of Acura’s distinguishing features the new NSX will be a hybrid, with two electric motors driving the front wheels, a development of Acura’s “Super Handling All Wheel Drive”. Regardless of the NSX’s green creds, I think it looks great, if a bit derivative. The character line running along the side of the car, sweeping up around the rear wheel arch, appears to be be part a new Acura styling theme, as it also appears on the updated RDX and the all new ILX compact luxury car based on the Civic. You can see pics and video of the new NSX concept all over the place, but if you want to see it in three dimensions your choices are either to get to Cobo Hall and see it in person, or here at Cars In Depth.
