Chrysler focused most of the assembled media’s attention on the new Dodge Dart (we’ll be posting 3D photos and video of the Dart in the next day or so). I don’t even think they mentioned the Chrysler 700C minivan concept in their press conference, but there it was on the stand. Unlike the nice young lady on the stand (she’s represented by the Gail & Rice agency) the 700C wasn’t very elegant or graceful. Maybe keeping it out of the limelight was a good idea because when people compare a design to the Ssangyong Rodius you know they’re not saying that it’s an attractive vehicle. As a fan of design I think I understand what the team in Auburn Hills was doing with that odd B pillar that starts in the front door and sweeps up and back, but it’s awkward as hell. The metal sculpting around the rear wheels, giving the 700C a muscular RWD haunch, also is not the most elegant of styling jobs. Still, we can probably expect some styling elements of the 700C to show up on the next generation Town & Country minivans.
