This year’s Michelin Challenge Design asked for a look at a sustainable urban future. The three winners were from Renault, Honda and Tata and they were on display at the NAIAS in Michelin’s booth in the concourse at Cobo. Renault offered the Zoe ZE (for zero emissions). The lithium ion powered city car with hexagonal honeycomb graphics, is the latest Zoe concept and Renault says that a related production car will be on the market by mid 2012. Hopefully the production car will share some styling with the Zoe ZE, an attractive car. The Honda P-NUT is a flexible design that can be driven with a combustion engine, a all electric drive train or a hybrid system. Tata’s eMO  electric car concept has been described by some as fully engineered in India, which is completely false. The eMO was designed less than 30 miles from Cobo Hall, in Tata Technologies’ Novi, Michigan offices. In case you’re wondering, it shares nothing with the Tata Nano.
