Importer Max Hoffman convinced Mercedes-Benz headquarters that there was a market for a street version of their racer. To introduce the first all new SL in a decade, M-B brought out 300SL #002 (the first one was destroyed). Most folks thought the original looked better. Unfortunately, M-B decided to surround the car with a portable barrier, making good photos almost impossible but we did manage to get a couple of interesting perspectives.
