Even though many of the product and concept introductions are announced in advance of the major auto shows, you never know what vehicles you’re going to see on the floor until the doors open up. What shows up where is a complicated process involving build times (for concepts or pre-production cars at least), show dates, as well and local, national and global marketing strategies. For example, Acura’s new NSX concept, introduced last month at Detroit and promoted in a very high profile Super Bowl ad with Jay Leno and Jerry Seinfeld, will not be at the Chicago Auto Show this year, instead going to the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto next week. Ford opted to feature the slightly refreshed locally built MKS in Chicago instead of the higher profile all-new MKZ concept shown in Detroit. So it was a nice surprise to see that Cadillac brought their well received Ciel concept, first displayed at the Pebble Beach concours last year, to the Chicago Auto Show, since they hadn’t shown it in Detroit. As far as I can determine, this Cars In Depth video is the first 3D video of the car available anywhere, though this anaglyph interview with Ciel designer Niki Smart found on YouTube does feature some still shots of the car. We’ll be posting our own gallery of still photos of the Ciel later on today once everything is aligned, cropped, resized and uploaded for your viewing pleasure.
