Antique Auto Advertising Addendum:
Wilding Picture’s “Last Date” Starring A Very Young Dick York

Like Detroit’s larger Jam Handy Organization studio, Wilding Picture Productions supplemented its work for the auto industry by making educational films. This 1950 film, Last Date, addresses the sometimes lethal combination of young people, romance and cars. Don’t worry, it’s not one of those grisly filmstrips they used to show of mangled cars and bodies but it was originally commissioned by the Kemper insurance company. The gore is only hinted at. Dick York, who later starred as Darrin Stephens in the tv comedy Bewitched, plays Nick, whose overconfidence at the wheel leads to tragedy.
