Ford introduced the ragtop version of their latest licenced-by-Shelby Mustang at the 2012 Chicago Auto show. It’s the most powerful and fastest Mustang convertible ever, supposedly faster around a track than the previous Shelby GT500 coupe. Open cars can have structural deficits so Ford emphasized how they’ve stiffened up the body structure to make convertible GT500 a credible track performer. Of course if they were serious about people taking this car to the track they would have equipped it from the factory with the roll bar that most racing series require to run convertibles. Still, it’s probably the best performing open car for the money. Here’s a 3D video look at the new car, as well as video from the GT500 convertible’s world premiere.
